Facebook Application vs A Website with Facebook Connect

Recently I had a discussion with my client about which one is better:
1) A Facebook Application OR
2) A Website with Facebook Connect

The answer is: It depends but personally I will always prefer a website with Facebook connect integration over a Facebook app.

I am of the opinion that a website with social media login available is the right way to go, primarily because of the potential the website has in terms of advertisement revenue which should not be ignore.
